CARES Act Donation Information
Individual Donor Information:
1. In March of this year, special provisions in the CARES Act that became law allows for a special $300 tax deductible donation for all taxpayers regardless if they itemized their deductions or not on their tax return. The donation has to be made before the end of 2020.
2. Additionally, in the past, those that filed tax returns with itemized deductions were limited to a maximum of 60% of their Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) for a charitable deduction. Under section 2205 of the CARES Act, that amount has been raised to 100% with the ability to carry forward for five years. The donation has to be made before the end of 2020.
Business Donor Information:
1. Under prior law, corporate deductions for cash contributions to qualified charities were limited to 10% of taxable income. The CARES Act increases this limitation of cash contributions to qualified charities for 2020 to 25%. Corporations can also carry forward and utilize any access over the next five years. The donation has to be made before the end of 2020.

MORE REASONS TO GIVE IN 2020
The Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA has been part of the fabric of our community for over 100 years. Historically, the Y has been much more than just a gym and swim. The Y has been a safe place where ALL are welcome. Numerous people in our community learned how to swim at the Y, had their very first team sports experience through the Y, or felt comfortable participating in the Y’s group exercise classes. The relationships that have been cultivated through Y experiences, or lifetime friendships and memories made during a week of summer spent at Camp Benson are countless.
Even during the pandemic, we have continued to provide to our community by serving 10,000 meals to children and families in Sterling and Rock Falls, making regular contact with seniors in our community, offering online/virtual classes free for everyone, hosting summer day camp at the Y and family camp at Camp Benson.
Through the generosity of many, the Y has been able to provide access to all that have faced financial hardships. In order to continue to be a vital resource for our community, we invite you to take advantage of the CARES Act donation opportunity.
